LED,(light-emitting diode) are a solid-state lighting. This type of lighting uses a semiconductor to change electricity into light.
The LED lights of today are more energy efficient than traditional incandescent lights. Because they don't release a lot of heat, LED's don't waste energy. LED lights can be 6-7 times more energy efficient which can cut the use of energy by more than 80 percent compared to incandescent lighting.
LED Lights can last for 25,000 hours or more. Compared to traditional light bulbs, LED lights last 25 times longer.
Because LED Lights are compact and easy to maintain they are used a wide variety of products. They are also resistant to breakage and the light can be focused in a single direction unlike traditional bulbs. These unique traits make them ideal for many applications.
Since LED's don't contain Mercury they have a much smaller impact on the environment according to a recent Energy Department study.
